Castello Sforzesco

The Sforza Castle or the Castello Sforzesco is a popular castle standing in Italy particularly in the city of Milan.  It became the sanctuary of the city’s fine collection of various arts.  It was in the 14th century of which this castle is established but it was then refurbished in the year 1450 in the name of Francesco Sforza who began reconstructing the castle again, eventually the castle was developed by the following next generations.  The castle experienced several breaks up during its past history due to the associated assault of the city during the year of 1943.  However, its reconstruction for the museum reason was commenced by the BBPR architectural partnership. 

 

Castello Sforzesco is quite significant of the city because it houses almost all the important collections of arts and masterpieces of the famous artists since before and until now.  The museum is significant as well because it contributes the tourism status of the country and the city of course.  But the most striking and recent public museums is the “Pinacoteca del Castello Sforzesco” where it houses the masterpieces of Michelangelo’s sculpture such like the Andrea Mantegna’s Trivulzio Madonna, Rondanini Pieta and then the Leonardo da Vinci’s Codex Trivulzianus document.  The castle as well has included also the Museum of Musical Instruments and the Applied Arts, the Museum of Ancient Arts, the Archille Bertalli Print Collection and the Egyptian and Prehistoric segments of the Archeological Museum. 

 

The Castello on its left wing which is located on the first floor of the Ducal courtyard which caters the collection of both the antique furniture and woodworks.  Aside from that, there are also displays of incredible exhibits such like the Cassone dei tre duchi, the 13th century crucifix which is from Umbria, the coretto di Torrechiara, the cabinet and the famous work of arts by Giuseppe Maggiolini.  Inside the Falconiera tower particularly in the room XX are found the displays of Pinacoteca collections. The displayed collections are dramatically arranged in order considering its year when it emerged.  Its collections started from the mid 15th century and forward which was located in the room XXVI.  While the room XXIII embraced complete masterpieces by Antonello da Messina’s Saint Benedict, the work of Andrea Mantega which is the Madonna in Glory with Saints, the remarks of Giovanni Bellini which is the Madonna and Child as well as the Madonna of Humility by Filippo Lippi. 

 

There is also a stairway heading to the Roccheta of both first and second floors that features the Sforzesco Castle Applied art collections.  The first floor of the Rocchetta is called the Sala dela Balla where it is occupied by both ladies and knights amusing each other.  While snaking to the ball room is found some of the musical instruments belonged to the Castle itself.  The musical collections were started from the 50s together with the Gallini Collection; however it also contains other exhibits particularly some stringed instruments from Lombardy.  While the other rooms houses the collections from 16th and 17th century; examples are arch lutes, lutes, guitars, and strings where the family of Cremona which became popular during the 17th century.  

 

Castello Sforzesco deserves to drop by for a visit, since there are many precious things to see and discover around.  Tourists can also tour around and give a glimpse towards the wind instruments since these things deserve to have a view.  You can turn to their old hunting horns, and other related wood instruments.  Castello Sforzesco is truly one of the great edifices found in this planet earth that deserves its name as one of the tourist’s destination in Milan Italy.
